He describes The Tavistock as 'safe, caring and thoughtful'.
It's not safe - girls are having unnecessary mastectomies and irreversible hormone treatments which many will regret later.
In a 'safe, caring and thoughtful' environment where there has been a 400% increase in young women identifying as trans, with a known social contagion component, one would think 10% is on the high side.
This is simply untrue. @PaulJThinks
Why say that on national radio?
The evidence is that when puberty blockers are used on dysphoric teens, the vast majority are then 'locked in' to the medical transition pathway. You know this. Why not say it?
It seems that The Tavistock is very much wedded to the 'affirmation' and medical pathway model.
Why isn't The Tavistock, with a great history of psychotherapy, challenging the MOU2 which seeks to remove psychotherapeutic models of treatment?
Yes there is a contentious debate. Yes, this is a contested area of medicine. But here's the rub...
It is only contentious because ideologically driven feelings are drowning out proper research and hard evidence.
Now, the voices of reason, truth and science need to fight to regain these institutions.
Thank you, @seja_bondoso for speaking up.
