The idea that we won’t need mental healthcare when we “fix society” is anti-revolutionary & ableist. You think disabled folks won’t exist in your post-liberation world? You think people will not still experience grief, loss, or heartbreak & need support to get through it? 🙄
Again mental healthcare includes things like support groups, pharmaceuticals, community support, as well as more traditional counseling & therapy.
Our inability to image mental healthcare outside of oppression & the capitalist medical industrial complex is part of the problem. We need healers & healthcare workers who can envision radically different futures and help us build toward it.

Say it with me friends: Everyone should be in therapy. Everyone. Including you. Yes, you. You should be in therapy.*

*In an ideal world we all have access to quality, culturally-attuned, affordable mental health services.
Therapy can mean one-on-one psychotherapy or counseling, it can mean support groups, it can mean pharmaceutical assistance... What I’m saying is we all need mental health care. Therapy isn’t just lying on a couch sharing your dreams with a white guy with a notepad.
Again, I’m not saying everyone should get into therapy now even if you don’t have access to quality care. What I’m saying is we all, ALL OF US, need this kind of care & I want to live in a world where anti-racist, anti-sexist, queer & trans friendly, anti-ableist therapy exists.

I am really surprised & honored to announce that I’ve been named LBGTQ Advocate of the Year by @OutReachLGBT, Madison’s LBGTQ Community Center.
I’ve only been in Madison for 2 years, but I’ve orked hard w/ my political collective to move our city toward a cop-free Pride & to educate white queer folks about racism via my #DearQueerWhitePeople column in @OurLivesMadison magazine.
It means a lot to be recognized for this work & to know that perhaps it’s actually creating some change at the local level. I know not everyone here is a fan of me or the changes I want to see, but I believe in the work & the #MadisonWI queer community. Thanks yall.

People of color can uphold colonialism.
People of color can uphold white supremacy.
People of color can uphold fascism.
POC can be in close proximity to the violence, be complicit, be the perpetrators, the designers and beneficiaries. They’re enemies to be destroyed just the same
People of color aren’t exempt from actively upholding oppressive bullshit, for upholding violence against Black and Brown folks, LGBTQ++ folks, poor marginalized folks. POC can take up positions within colonial white supremacy and “other themselves” completely from the violence.
So I’m exhausted when people act full surprised a POC, a WOC is on some oppressive bullshit as if they don’t choose to be in closer proximity to whiteness, white supremacy over the struggles of people more ethnically, racially adjacent to themselves. It’s been happening.

The excitement is best captured in this one chart. Lithium-ion batteries have changed our lives by enabling the smartphone revolution. They are about to change it again with the electrification of transport and other applications.
There are plenty of other battery types, but none is as versatile. More importantly, none has the kind of falling price trajectory.

This is true for every single white person who is part of any one or multiple marginalized groups.

Our voices are always heard first and foremost. Yet the racial disparity in our communities is rarely, if ever, discussed.
So often, white people dominate and push ourselves to the for front of each of our #communities

Stop asking whether the Nashville Waffle House shooting was terrorism or mental illness.

This is a false dichotomy. It was BOTH.
