Utter falsity from Johnson as he praises Theresa May, the person he spent the entire time trying to bring down.
Johnson talks about a divide between the "deep desire for friendship and trade" with the EU and the desire for "self-government".
Doesn't sound like he's going to go full-bore for no-deal. Sounds like he's heading into negotiations.
Not much to conclude from that, really.
Plainly quite upsetting to see him there. It'll get worse over the course of the week.

Yeah I never thought we'd be dumb enough as a country to let this shit go down.
Within a minute of speaking as prime minister, Johnson brands critics of Brexit and the Brexit process as people who "bet against Britain".
And now here comes the unity bit, about uniting the whole country, as if that last part didn't get said.

This was the best I could do to explain Johnson to an American audience.
It's surprisingly difficult actually, I think because, as @fotoole pointed out, there is a sense of specifically British irony that is central to comprehending him. And not in a good way.

#ToryIslamophobia update – there have been a number of major developments today but for those not following closely, I have collated them to demonstrate the scale of the issue.
We had front pages in the Guardian and Independent referring to the scale of the issue after Baroness Warsi said the Conservative Party had an institutional problem with Islamophobia, before the Today programme and Politics Live covering the issue.
One of the cases highlighted earlier this week, which was covered on @Channel4News yesterday was that of former Tory council leader Mr Bowles who RTed a message hailing Tommy Robinson. It was confirmed that he was suspended today. independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

there are a lot of obvious problems with gab (namely the fact that it's full of nazis), but for fuck's sake torba, that nazi is right that blocking someone should definitely prevent them from DMing you. what an unbelievably shoddy product.
there is also a hilariously simple workaround that allows you to see posts made by private accounts when not even logged into the site, but i'm gonna keep that one to myself. pull it together, torba.

First off, we must thank-you all. We launched a poll on Monday expecting maybe 500 responses maximum. Instead we had a whopping three-thousand-two-hundred-and-thirty votes on our Twitter poll.

That’s ridiculous.
We asked you which party you thought had the oldest average age of MPs.

Most of you, 66%, thought it was the @Conservatives, then the @LibDems (15%), then @UKLabour (14%), with the @theSNP coming in last with (5%).

I bet the SNP are feeling fairly youthful right about now.
