Yeah I never thought we'd be dumb enough as a country to let this shit go down.
Within a minute of speaking as prime minister, Johnson brands critics of Brexit and the Brexit process as people who "bet against Britain".
And now here comes the unity bit, about uniting the whole country, as if that last part didn't get said.
Johnson just called the nations of the UK "the awesome foursome".
It's like giving some quid-a-night washed up stand-up comic down the end of a pier the keys to No.10.
"Never mind the backstop, the buck stops here." Christ.
Good passage from Johnson offering "absolute certainty" to EU citizens.
He says we must "prepare for the remote possibility that Brussels refuses to negotiate". In other words: Doesn't give in on backstop. Which it won't.
We have to get ready to leave "at some point in the near future".
"To those who say we can't be ready, I say do not underestimate this country". Again. Same tactic. Criticism of govt is criticism of country.
Tremendous amount of blather filler.
Note the number of pledges. Because it doesn't matter. He doesn't care. He doesn't think he'll be held to them. The task is to show that he's wrong.
