Fuck this obsession with civility and politeness. It is instructive that in the era of Trump — a man who has torpedoed the notion of civility — women are still expected to be polite and demure. I wrote this - and expanded it into a chapter in my new book google.com/amp/s/www.nbcn…
Patriarchy - and attendant oppressions such as racism, capitalism, bigotry, etc - wants us to forever remain within the straitjacket of niceness and politeness, despite the violence it subjects us to.

In the chapter on Profanity, I give as an example the history of “radical rudeness” in #Uganda, used against British colonizers, and I write extensively about Dr. Stella Nyanzi who is maintaining that today against dictator Museveni & his regime. She is on trial at the moment
