Note to @JoeBiden & other candidates:
Dems often fall into trap of talking abt poverty in same breath as Black ppl, as if poverty is always abt ppl other than white folks. There are more poor white ppl & children than black, when you look at raw numbers. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…
The issue is not that poor black & brown children are as smart as white children, but that all poor children— red & yellow, black, white & brown— deserve health care, high quality education, parents w/ living wages, a clean environment & equal opportunity.
Also it should be noted that Republican politicians who get elected thru racist voter suppression & gerrymandering, which are tools of white nationalism, pursue policy agendas that hurt poor & low wealth ppl, who are mostly white!

Every time America has done this, it was wrong. Operation Wetback was wrong 55 yrs ago. Trump’s deportation & asylum denial is wrong today. Now or 55 yrs ago, the rejection of Hispanic immigrants is rooted in white nationalism.
The lies & the myths of white nationalism must be challenged by a movement that brings black, brown, white & Native together to deal w/ the realities of poverty. We can’t let lies pit us against each other. We must challenge Trump & his enablers, but they are just the symptom.
We must challenge the lie of white nationalism that America has never fully and deeply faced—the myth that gave rise to Trumpism. We cannot say “we’ve never seen this before” or that any one president can solve it.
