If you think “chosen by God” is cause for Jews thinking they’re superior, you haven’t read the Torah. There’s a lot of suffering and bad, very human behavior.

As the Torah is the biography of a People, naturally there would have to be a reason why we’re reading about them, no?
I’m not gonna say this is anti-semitism—if it is, the word is meaningless—but, like so much talk about Jews on the alt right end of things (if you want to call it that), it’s just wrong. I think it’s because they just don’t have a lot of Jews to talk to.
Instead of asking, “hey, what does chosenness mean in the Jewish religious context?” some people just read nonsense from people with axes to grind. Same thing happens with Islam, of course. Lots of folks simply use scripture as an opportunity to create an oppo file.
Going back to re-read this: on one hand, he says “Jews.” In the other example, he says “many Islamists.”

I’m not sure if he sees the distinction here—assuming Jews in general feel superior, while saying “many Islamists.”

No—it’s **all** Islamists by definition.
It’s such a dumb comment, coming from a place of compete ignorance.

The Jews “invented” this monotheistic God who was the opposite of the gods of Egypt and Mesopotamia. Each people had a special relationship with their gods; the Jews’ God was the one that succeeded.
