Let's be crystal clear. No 19-year-old should be able to walk into a freaking gun store and buy an AK-47. That is an enormous red flag.

A moment of silence for 9/11 first responder Luis Alvarez, who died of cancer this morning. Here he is last month asking Congress to take action and fulfill their obligation to provide care for the survivors of 9/11.

Mitch McConnell has yet to bring the bill.
Alvarez had 69 rounds of chemotherapy before he finally entered hospice. It was courageous and unselfish for him to make the trek to Washington, D.C. with Jon Stewart to speak to Congress. These were his last moments and he was still acting heroically.
This is why there must be a permanent solution to the care of 9/11 responders and people from lower Manhattan who survived the attack and had to live in the toxic dust, teachers and students at a nearby school. They deserve our care and they shouldn't have to keep fighting.

So, Roger Ailes gives Trump debate questions in advance. Fox editor buries Stormy Daniels story in 2016 that would've hurt Trump in the general, uses a nondisclosure as a shield to stop the reporter.

This should should disqualify Fox News from hosting 2019-2020 debates.
In addition, Sean Hannity was working hand-in-hand with the Trump campaign. Hannity even loaned his private plane to fly Newt Gingrich to meet with Donald Trump for a VP audition.

Hannity has appeared on stage at Trump rallies.
When asked about the jet, Hannity's defense is that he is not a journalist, he's a talk show host.

OK, but why then is he traveling with Trump to places like Vietnam, getting exclusive interviews AND sitting with the rest of the media, asking questions at a press conference?

For today's #TenThings, let's talk about GENRE. What it is, how to determine what your book is, what's expected in your genre. I'll be talking about the genres I know best: Science Fiction, Fantasy, Romance, Horror, YA, and Middle Grade. Hint: The last 2 aren't actually 'genres'.
First of all, the usual disclaimer: YMMV, my way is not the only way, everyone's journey is different. This advice is intended for new writers seeking traditional publishing, so my thoughts on genre are based on what I hear from literary agents and editors.
1. Genre is the shelf at the bookstore where your book will be placed. It is not carved in stone. You won't get a rejection from a literary agent because you 'guessed' your genre wrong. Genre exists to give a reader a good idea of what to expect in your book. That's all.

1) I'm tired of pundits speculating that if only officials had been warned, they could have taken this kids guns away. It doesn't work like that. The 19-year-old shooter had never been convicted of a crime and hadn't been adjudicated as mentally ill. He legally owned guns.
2) Reminder that in California, the parents of the UCSB shooter warned police that their adult son was armed and a danger to himself or others. The police explained that the law didn't allow them to disarm their son. That's why we passed Red Flag Laws in the state soon after.
3) Only five states have Red Flag Laws that allow families or police to petition a judge for a restraining order to temporarily disarm people who pose a danger to themselves or others. Florida is NOT one of those states.

In particular, gutting protection for pre-ex conditions now crystal clear. But one-eyed-bearded-man-with-a-limp provisions added 2/
to try to buy off AK/ME (Murkowski/Collins). And fake numbers thrown out to make the deal look better than it is. 3/
