Trump says he was "just speaking with the Department of Commerce, and we have interest in our country like we've never had before."
Trump says he feels "so sorry for the people of Baltimore." He adds, "If they ask me, we'll get involved." (?)
Trump repeats his now-standard false claims that "our people are not paying for" his tariffs on China and that $16 billion, the amount of his second bailout package to affected farmers, is the most China has ever spent on US agriculture in a year. (It was $30 billion in 2014.)
Trump claims that an infrastructure bill is "being written up right now."
Told of this Washington Post column, which accuses McConnell of being a "Russian asset" for blocking election-security measures, Trump calls the Washington Post a Russian asset. washingtonpost.com/opinions/mitch…
Trump usually claims that he'll soon be at 145 or 147 judges confirmed. (He was in the 120s as of last week.) Today, he said it'll soon be "179."
Trump: "The White House, and myself, and letters and emails and phone calls, have received more phone calls than I think on any other subject, of people from Baltimore and other cities, corruptly run by Democrats, thanking me for getting involved."
Trump has periodically invented imaginary phone calls. The phone calls usually involve people thanking or praising him. These stories are a first cousin of the crying-backstage-grateful-burlyman stories.
Trump says he's happy Bolsonaro is referred to as "the Trump of Brazil," says Bolsonaro is doing a wonderful job.
Trump: "I am the least racist person there is anywhere in the world."
Trump says he has gotten lots of phone calls from "the African-American community." He adds, "They are so happy, because I get the calls."
Trump says companies are "leaving China by the thousands." Some of them are indeed moving some production to other countries to avoid the tariffs, but experts have told us that "leaving by the thousands" is an exaggeration.
It is probably obvious, but Trump's claims that African-Americans are "happy as hell" with him is, generally, not at all true. He remains at 80+% disapproval among African-American voters.
