1) As President Trump continues to highlight problems in Baltimore, I thought a more detailed thread might be in order.

Trump may have some special insights as DAG Rosenstein had served as the U.S. attorney for the District of Maryland - which includes...Baltimore.
4) Rosenstein's time as US Attorney included several high-profile investigations, including those of Prince George’s County Executive Jack B. Johnson and former Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. James E. Cartwright.
5) Johnson, who was investigated on suspicion of having hidden cash bribes, ultimately admitted guilt and served more than five years on corruption charges.
6) Rosenstein ran the felony leak investigation of Cartwright, who ultimately admitted to “making false statements to the FBI concerning multiple unauthorized disclosures of classified information that he made to reporters.”

7) Immediately prior to Cartwright’s January 2017 sentencing, Obama unexpectedly pardoned him, ending an investigation that had begun back in 2012.

8) Cartwright’s attorney was Washington lawyer and former White House counsel Greg Craig, who was recently indicted for FARA violations.
9) There are some interesting positions currently occupied by people connected to Rosenstein.
10) Robert Hur is the current US Attorney for the District of Maryland - including Baltimore.

Hur was the top aide to DAG Rosenstein and was an Assistant U.S. Attorney under Rosenstein in MD.

He currently is a member of the AG’s Advisory Committee - w/Huber & Liu.
11) AG Barr recently commented on Huber's activities, noting that he had “other issues he’s been working on [that] relate to Hillary Clinton."

Barr noted that “[t]hose are winding down and hopefully we’ll be in a position to bring those to fruition.”
12) Zachary Terwilliger is currently the U.S. attorney for the EDVA.

Terwilliger was chief of staff to DAG Rosenstein and previously worked at the EDVA under Boente.

Terwilliger’s father, George Terwilliger III, worked w/Barr and served as DAG under Barr’s first term as AG.
13) Terwilliger took over the EDVA role from Dana Boente who is now General Counsel for the FBI.

The EDVA is a significant assignment as it often handles significant terrorism, espionage, and public corruption cases.
14) As for Boente, he has served as the acting attorney general, acting deputy attorney general, acting head of the Justice Department’s National Security Division (NSD), and currently serves as the FBI’s general counsel.

All critical roles.
15) John Demers succeeded Boente as head of the NSD.

Demers, who had prior experience with the NSD, clerked for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

* A previous [deleted] post had inverted the positions of Demers & Terwilliger - apologies
16) Terwilliger and Demers have been jointly involved on several in several high profile cases.
17) In 2018, Sessions announced the formation of an “organized crime task force of experienced prosecutors” and appointed Rosenstein to lead it.

Working under Rosenstein were separate DOJ subcommittees for each of the target groups.
18) John J. Durham was charged with leading the subcommittee on MS-13.

John’s father is John H. Durham.
19) John H. Durham, US Attorney for Connecticut was tapped by AG Barr to investigate the origins of the Russia probe as Huber’s role shifted to the Clinton Foundation.
