#Thread: Inspired by the CBP Facebook revelations, I decided to take a look at the OUN-B affiliated U.S. Organization for Defense of Four Freedoms of Ukraine (ODFFU) Facebook group, which includes 610 people. In no particular order, here are some profiles that stuck out to me:
Dmytro Zhmailo, spokesman/executive director of Free People, member of Youth Nationalist Congress (MNK), and senior staff for Ukrainian MP Oleh Medunytsia, who himself chaired MNK 2002-2006. Among others, Zhmailo is FB friends with CUN leader S.Bratsiun.
Pavlo Podobied, head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance's Department for the Preservation of Places of Memory, according to Newsweek, has "accused Jews of being the main perpetrators of Soviet crimes against Ukrainians in the 1920s and 1930s." (1/2)
Podobied also chairs the Heroyika Foundation which has sponsored the installation of a number of nationalist memorials & monuments in Ukraine. (uk.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%91%D0…) Notably, Podobied is FB friends with OUN-B leader @stefanromaniw & Chicagoan UPA reenactor Yuriy Soroka (2/2)
Myrosia Matwijiwskyj (@MyrosiaM) is "Head of Political Affairs & External Relations" at the OUN-B affiliated Ukrainian Information Service, headquartered in London (@UIS_London). She's also a member of the Ukrainian Youth Association's national executive in Great Britain. (1/2)
Following the international controversy surrounding President Viktor Yushchenko decreeing Stepan Bandera a "Hero of Ukraine" in 2010, the UIS formed a "Bandera Action Committee," chaired by Myrosia Matwijiwskyj. She was recently in DC with OUN-B, Free People & UCCA leaders. (2/2)
Viktor Rog, the founding head of the Youth Nationalist Congress (MNK) and a former leader of the OUN-B's Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists (CUN), is today editor in chief of the OUN-B weekly newspaper, "Way of Victory." MNK was first conceived of as the Youth CUN (YCUN).
Ivan Kishka, coordinator of Free People and former (5th) chairman of the MNK, is also Facebook friends with OUN-B leader @stefanromaniw. Free People was created under the auspices of the MNK and perhaps in turn the OUN-B. Free People joined the "World Banderite Council" in 2018.
Mykola Hryckowian Jr., son a UPA veteran, is director of the DC office of the Center for US-Ukraine Relations (CUSUR, the creation of which ODFFU spearheaded in 2000) and co-chairman of the Ad-Hoc Committee on Ukraine (AHCU) which lobbied Congress to pass the 2014 USFA. (1/2)
Hryckowian tellingly made Right Sector's flag his cover photo during the first few days of its existence, and three years later liked the profile picture of someone else in the ODFFU Facebook group depicting the wolfsangel swastika flown by Ukrainian neo-Nazis. (2/2)
The wolfsangel swastika profile picture belonged to Marko Bura, Recycling Coordinator of the Township of Hanover in New Jersey since 2002. His Facebook account is full of racist anti-Obama memes that aren't worth sharing, and images praising Bandera and the Ukr. far-right. (1/2)
Marko Bura posted the following pictures from the Ukrainian American Youth Association camp in Ellenville, New York in 2014-2015, presumably from the "Heroes' Holiday" each 1st weekend of July (*cough*), featuring flags of the neo-Nazi/far-right Azov and Donbas Battalions. (2/2)
Andriy Shchegelskiy is a prominent young member of the ODFFU from Lviv. When the neo-Nazi leader turned mainstream politician Andriy Parubiy visited the ODFFU headquarters in New York City in 2015, Shchegelskiy participated in a meeting and/or interview with him.
Stefko Bandera (@sbandera), grandson of the wanna-be Hitler of Ukraine, was on the steering committee of the annual "Ukraine's Quest" Washington DC roundtable organized by the CUSUR eight times between 2000-2011.
Alexander Tiahnybok, Ukrainian neo-Nazi leader Oleh Tyahnybok's pro-Trump cousin in Chicago
Mykola Posivnych, (former?) head of the Litopys UPA Foundation, wrote a book published in 2015 about Stepan Bandera with the aim of "overcoming the stereotypes" & "artificial myths" about him. According to Per Anders Rudling, Posivnych "articulates the traditional diaspora view."
Vladyslav Antonov of Knoxville, Tennessee, leader of "Right Sector USA"
Pavlo Bandriwsky, as treasurer of the "World Banderite Council" & VP of the @UkrCongComAm, marched with @viatrovych in Chicago & was photographed with Ambassador Geoff Pyatt and Senate Ukraine Caucus co-chair Dick Durbin alongside the US head of the OUN-B. medium.com/@mossrobeson/t…
Mamuka Mamulashvili, former "advisor to Georgia’s defense minister under Saakashvili," leads the Georgian Legion, composed of former Georgian soldiers who volunteered to fight alongside the Ukrainian army in the Donbas. It officially joined the Ukr. Armed Forces in 2016. (1/2)
In 2017 a "bombshell Italian documentary...contain[ed] confessions of purported Georgian snipers" behind the massacre in Kyiv on February 20, 2014. "All three of our protagonists say that they were recruited at the end of 2013 by Mamuka Mamulashvili."(2/2) facebook.com/ivan.katchanov…
George/Yuri Mykytyn, former president of the Ukrainian American Youth Association (UAYA/SUMA/CYMA) & research analyst for Bloomberg, until recently worked for the State of New Jersey as a portfolio manager/senior investment analyst. Below pictured with Parubiy and in UPA costume.
Anna Chamulak has been Vice President of Citigroup since 2007 linkedin.com/in/anna-chamul…
Larysa Zanyk is the executive director of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts and Sciences in New York City linkedin.com/in/larysa-zany…
Kirill Lyagushev is chairman of the Canadian Center for Development of Democracy in Russia and the Canadian coordinator of the "International Anti-Putin Coalition to Stop Fascism in Russia." stopfascism.org
Tanya Chalupa (@ubco2), mother of @AlexandraChalup and @AndreaChalupa, edited "Orwell and the Refugees," which I have discussed here:
to be continued...
Adrian Karatnycky (@MyrmidonGroup), a former student employee of the Prolog Research Corporation, a CIA front staffed by the zpUHVR (former OUN-B), turned president of @freedomhouse, director of @ukrainianjewish, member of @CFR_org and senior fellow at the @AtlanticCouncil. (1/2)
@MyrmidonGroup was on the steering committee of the first seven "Ukraine's Quest" roundtables in Washington DC organized by the ODFFU-led Center for US-Ukrainian Relations (2000-2006). In those days the ODFFU and CUSUR websites were one and the same. (2/2) web.archive.org/web/2001040800…
Ihor Dlaboha (@idlaboha), editor of the Ukrainian Quarterly published by @UkrCongComAm, advocates the revival of the crypto-fascist OUN(b)-led Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations. His son Adrian, current head of the Ukrainian American Youth Association, created the ODFFU's FB group.
Andrij Dobriansky (@tufkaa), communications director of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) — not sure if he's related to Lev and Paula Dobriansky. He live tweeted this year's Ukraine Security Conference organized by CUSUR, featuring Free People leader Andrii Levus
Max Lozynskyj, pictured below with his father Askold Lozynskyj
Nadiia Khomaziuk, communications director of the US-Ukraine Business Council
.@NykolaLucak, president of the Ukrainian National Home in Syracuse, New York is Facebook friends with OUN-B leader @stefanromaniw, "The Historian Whitewashing Ukraine's Past" (@viatrovych), and head of the "World Banderite Council" (@ICSUkraine) Boris Potapenko, among others.
