The conspiracy theory that George Soros was a Nazi collaborator is a common one on the right. It is false - not least because Soros was 9 in 1939 when WW2 broke out snopes.com/fact-check/geo…
Soros was a Holocaust survivor, not a collaborator. This is a classic antisemitic conspiracy spread by those (like @andywigmore and @RaheemKassam) who dislike Soros’s pro-human rights politics snopes.com/fact-check/geo…
@andywigmore @RaheemKassam Recommend reading this @snopes article debunking the claim. You can see how the nuggets of biographical truth have been grotesquely distorted to discredit Soros, who was during Nazi occupation of Hungary living under an assumed identity in order to survive snopes.com/fact-check/geo…

Just watched the 2017 Beauty and the Beast with my kids. Their firs B&tB, shame it’s that bit worse and weirder than the 1991 one. But I would say that!
Josh Gad the only obvious improvement. But he’s made for it! Kevin Kline quite good. The Beast was ok. I suppose one of the things about getting older is your childhood memories won’t be left alone!

Amongst many other concerns this raises the government shouldn’t be producing media for the public without clearly marking it’s from the government. This is like 1960s CIA tactics but being used domestically and focussed on Muslims. Totally mindblowing
It’s also called ‘Woke’, which should itself be a crime under anti-terror laws

@GoldsmithsUoL The human rights and public law module looks great. Covers the basics but also recognises the political relevance. Mulling what I can add. Hoping to be able to record my lectures and publish if possible
@GoldsmithsUoL It’s amazing how far human rights law has come since I studied it (briefly!) in my public law module at City in 2006-7. It feels like a really meaty area of domestic law now

So I talked to the founder of Snopes, who acknowledged that this post went beyond a fact-check, but he also explained why they fact check Babylon Bee stories more than, say, the Onion, and it's not a conspiracy.... snopes.com/fact-check/geo…
They fact check Babylon Bee stories more than Onion stories because more people ask about them. There's probably a few reasons for this, including brand recognition and the fact that satire isn't an much a part of conservative Christian culture as secular liberal culture.

First, look at the subtitle of the Snopes piece: "We're not sure if fanning the flames of controversy and muddying the details of a news story classify an article as 'satire.'"
