Once the weather is more ammeniable to shipping perishables, I’m getting my hands on DoubleTree cookie dough for experimental temperature & time runs.

Which will require taste-testing, natch.
Note:
Munching on cookies baked in space is not equivalent to munching on Purple Space Cookies, the high-THC hybrid marijuana strain developed in British Columbia.

Although in post-legalization Canada, it’s easier to get domestic weed than international cookies via the mail.

A tsunami warning is out in Indonesia: inatews.bmkg.go.id

But it’s tricky, Indonesia’s had a bad run in recent years of chaotic warnings, unclear responses (GET TO HIGH GROUND), vandalized equipment, erosion of public trust...

I hope the quake didn’t generate a tsunami.
Tsunami are generated any time you have significant disruption of the water column.

This is usually vertical motion on a fault (which happens near Indonesia), but can be things like a submarine mountain moving sideways (2018: earther.gizmodo.com/scientists-are…) or landslides in to water.

Ah, I see we're on "Crystals are Magic" day again already.

Crystals are minerals growing in specific HIGHLY ordered structures.

Crystals can be natural or synthetic.
Crystals can make me happy ('cause they're neat!)
Crystals are never magic.

Note: opalite is always synthetic.
I dislike it when science is reduced to magic because reality is so much cooler.

For all my griping about not wanting to memorize All The Things for exams, mineralogy & crystallography are badass and deserve more respect than getting waved away as Magical-Wagical Wooishness.
