/ Been listening to an excellent podcast, White Lies, about the 1965 killing of James Reeb in Selma by white racist terrorists. The most disturbing thing--and we see it still today--was how unwilling white Selma residents were to acknowledge one of theirs did it...
/ ...they concocted the most utterly absurd conspiracy theories to pin it on the left. They said Reeb's fellow clergymen, who were with him when he was struck by a club on the head, actually murdered him in the ambulance to the hospital to give the movement a white martyr...
/ This theory was believed by virtually all of white Selma, and is still believed by folks there today...just as they also (at that time) believed blacks were bombing their own neighborhoods and the 16th St church in Birmingham just to gain sympathy...
/ Indeed, the "Blacks are bombing themselves" position was actually articulated by William F Buckley's National Review--the main organ of the conservative movement at the time...
/ And today, whenever white racist terrorists commit white racist terrorism, they scream "false flag," or "it must be antifa," or they fake some voter registration info online to make the terrorist seem like a registered Democrat or other liberal...
/ It leaves one with the inescapable conclusion that millions of white people are constitutionally incapable of either a) rational thought; b) honesty and self-reflection, or c) shame. Regardless of the answer...d) they must be stopped
Here's a link to the podcast about Selma and the Reeb killing...well worth the listen...
