why are journalists and other media types getting upset about somebody publishing publicly available campaign donation data - which quite frankly voters should be reading anyway so they’re better informed on who supports candidates?
This is literally the dumbest shit to get the vapors over if you’re a journalist. We literally use these records all the goddamn time to research, develop and write stories. And it’s public for a reason. A really really good one.
if politicians want to hand wring about their campaign donations being made more public than they already are, that’s their right. But just spitballing here, instead of nodding along sanctimoniously with them, a better use of your skills would be to write on why it scares them
I mean, Castro is prolly being a little petty with this. But not only is that his right, the president is such a petty dude he once gave out a senators personal number on tv. So.
