There’s code that sparks joy and code that sparks anxiety when looking at it.

The latter is far more pervasive than the former. Is why people say coding is just as much art as science?

Except with art, you’re sort of “done” when a book, painting, music album is “done”.
On a daily basis, we take complex technical requirements and construct narratives in code.

Incoherent code is often the result of complexity accruing in small increments. Unless there’s a culture of constantly refactoring code (and there isn’t, in most cases), this is inevitable
Code feels like a living, sentient thing that requires constant care and attention to stop it from getting unwieldy.

It’s not even art; it’s like parenting, without ever having the prospect of being an empty nester. 😴

There’s a part 2 to this post, which is unwritten as of now.

The biggest takeaway from this post is you don’t necessarily need centralization to be able to better distribute load.

There are many systems that either allow for (or encourage) centralization of decision making, sth I’ve always been sceptical about.

I’ve been unable to shake away the feeling that this approach of centralization (whether of health checks, or stats, or whatever other heuristic used to make load balancing decisions) it’s almost like encouraging shared global state.
Even if I could see what benefits it might bring (easier to shed load, access to info that doesn’t need to be distributed etc), it just didn’t sit well with me for some reason I couldn’t put my finger on.

Maybe it’s just a matter of opinion.

This is a study that was first published in Clinical Cardiology in September 2018.
It was quickly retracted due to concerns "about data integrity". Original PDF completely vanished, but here is the link (only retraction notice is left):

In this study, 120 obese people were put on 3 caloric-restricted diets: vegetarian, moderate fat, and low-carb. Each group was also split up into with or without vitamin supplements, so there were essentially 6 different treatment groups of 20 people each.

Negative responses to our open-source $TSLA model focus on changes we made to PP&E and R&D while maintaining our price targets. Those responses highlight the short term time horizon of analysts in the public markets and their unwillingness/inability to model exponential growth.
Based on #Tesla’s stunning results year-over-year in the first quarter relative to the $GM Bolt - the Model 3 sales up 6-fold from a base more than 50% higher than the Bolt’s, while the Bolt’s sales were flat - $TSLA should go full throttle in EV production.
The shift in our model from spending from R&D to PP&E during the next five years is based on the demand metrics for #Tesla’s EVs that are surfacing around the world Check out not only the US but also Norway which the bears wrote off after subsidies lapsed last year.

After 70 years of imperial/neoliberal indoctrination the web of lies is so obviously absurde (9/11, Skripal, WH = ISIS, etc.), that it is dissoluting. The empathetic humanity connects, closes ranks and sends their eternal psychopathic rulers and their lackeys into nowhere land.
The "evil empire" is a lifelong three year old child. I certainly loved my children at that age too, however only because they created not only a surreal mess, but also made steady progress.

A great documentary about psychopathy and society:
The elite invented "democracy" to protect them from the empathetic people. The media are their means for misleading the people sedated by "democracy". This is definitely a bad thing since the people have become educated and the elite almost totally insane.
