General election October 17th. I'm sure of it. Everything pointing to that day. All the lines converging on it.
I'll show you my working out. We know Johnson can't afford to have an election after Brexit day because the economy would crash in the middle of his campaign.
Or if the election was after Brexit, and he delayed Brexit to try and make the economy not crash during the campaign, he would lose the election for chickening out and not leaving like he promised.
So if he can't afford an election after Brexit, and he can't delay Brexit for an election, then he has to have an election before October 31st, which leaves only two dates to choose from. October 17th or October 24th.
If he left it till October 24th, that's so close to Brexit day itself that people are likely to vote to stop the immediate catastrophe.
And the earliest date they can have it is October 17th.

My guess is that the Tories are going to table a motion for a general election on the first day back after summer holidays. September 3rd. Vote next day. A few days to tidy up. Dissolution Monday 9th. Polling day Thursday 12th plus 5 weeks - October 17th.
