Steve Baker, leading eurosceptic, on significance of signing order triggering EU withdrawal act on October 31:

'It’s the do or die pledge in black and white. It is not merely symbolic

‘Once it’s signed that’s it, the UK is leaving'
But Dominic Grieve says MPs would be able to reverse the order to stop a no-deal Brexit.

He said: ‘It is Boris showing he is serious about his intention to leave the EU on October 31

'At the end of the day it is a matter for the majority of the house and it can be reversed'

Dominic Cummings was unrepentant tonight after sacking Sajid Javid's special adviser

He told advisers that if they had a problem with his style they knew where the door was

He said they could talk to him in private if they had concerns

This issue of “automaticity” of EU law in the transition period obvious from around the time of PM’s Florence speech...
If the repeal of the 1972 Act is immediately unrepealed, as seems to me the only way it can be done, expect even more Brexiter anger....

1 What a quite remarkable week in the independent republic of Brexitlandia:
- the Government wins a vote to repeal the European Communities Act (which gives effect to EU law in the UK) even though the Maybot has said EU law will apply for at least a 2 year transition after we leave 😬
3 - Gov proposes legislating the day Brexit will happen even though it will happen in March 2019 automatically (unless UK & EU agree to extend it - but then UK may be stuck because legislating Brexit day may prevent the option of extending negotiations even if we want to do so)🙄
