Also, if Portnoy decides to get his tweets blocked from the Internet Archive, he will run into the fact that destroyed evidence is legally presumed detrimental to the party destroying it.

@JohnDellaporta @stoolpresidente @barstoolsports Ask an IT person, but I'm thinking that even if Dave gets his own tweets out of the archives, he really won't, becase ghostly residues of them will survive in the archived copies of my tweet, and of any other tweet posted in reply to his.
@JohnDellaporta @stoolpresidente @barstoolsports If enough people get their replies to Dave archived, as willing as Twitter might be to get one reply or another removed (if they can), playing wacamole with hundreds of replies might be more than their small team has time for.

Just a thought.

@TRHLofficial @stoolpresidente @barstoolsports My understanding is that from the time Mr. Portnoy made his threat, a legal presumption existed that any action he would take against those employees who worked to unionize would be one taken in retaliation for that unionization.
@TRHLofficial @stoolpresidente @barstoolsports In other words, they don't have to prove that he took action against them for unionizing. He has to prove he didn't.

Waiting to unionize would be the last thing they should do. They should unionize RIGHT NOW and do so publicly - and find a lawyer to represent them.

The account might really be a joke, but that practice really is a thing, and it's dangerous.

And that's the actual rationale offered, every once in a while. The usual excuse offered by the Midwestern gym teachers doing this stupid, dangerous shit to the kids in their care is that drinking water while exercising will cause one to throw up.
@3YearLetterman @AOC @NLRB @AFLCIO As anybody who has exercised as an adult, or watched the runners getting handed water bottles at a marathon knows, this is pure BS.

Periodically, the gym teachers acknowledge that it was BS, but say that it was OK that they said the BS, because they were making the kids tougher.

If the audience is fooled, privileged bigots can go on being bigots and get praised for their wokeness as they do so.

Let’s start with Daenerys. Her actions in and of themselves are not surprising. She’s been saying she’d use her dragons to take King’s Landing since day one and the words of House Targaryen are FIRE AND BLOOD. This is what the Targaryens do.
That said, her arc leading to this moment was not well done.

So, I started at Microsoft at the peak of stack ranking. Stack ranking (aka forced distribution) as it worked at Microsoft was, as I understood it: each manager starts with the assumption that 20% of your team are star performers, 10% need to be fired, & rest are in the middle.

I keep thinking back to a discussion a few months on reddit about THE BELGARIAD. Several comments were made about it being cliche and pedestrian, and someone said, “Yeah, it’s a fine story, but it’s never going to be a classic.”
And all I could think to respond was, “It’s over thirty years later and we’re still talking about it. How is that NOT ‘a classic’?
But that got me thinking- I cite THE BELGARIAD (and THE MALLOREON, its sequel series) as one of my influential works. But what is that influence? I know I’ve read the whole series several times. My copies of the books are in terrible shape.
