It's not... very active, but with Zoë gone from Twitter I'm hoping a surge in support might serve as... well, a surge in suppprt.
Anyway, I feel rotten looking at how quickly the howling horde of gators has reactivated, immediately labeling her recent revelations as "false accusations" and now weaponizing a tragedy for the same old hate mob tactics.

It's a basic article of faith in the manosphere that men want sex but not relationships and women want relationships but not sex, so both sides only get what they want through a careful negotiated trade of one for the other.

Where exactly one falls in the manosphere depends a lot on what one decides to do with that received wisdom. Pick up artists are trying to maximize sex while minimizing relationships. Red pillers may be trying to leverage their ability to "offer a relationship" for the best value
But they both believe that men are the gatekeepers and suppliers of relationships and women are the gatekeepers and suppliers of sex -- resources each side hoards while having no use for it themselves.

So, without even really trying to, I've thrown one of the larger parties at WisCon the past three years. And I know there are several orders of magnitude difference between a large convention party at WisCon and a private party by one of the most famous authors in the world.
But, I don't know. I feel like when you throw a party, you're giving a gift. It's the nature of hospitality. It's a lot of work, a lot of money, and... if everybody but the host has a good time, it's still a successful party, whereas if the host does and others don't, it's not.
Ideally the host should have a blast, too, especially if it's supposed to be sustainable. Burnout is real! No one should be required to martyr themselves in order to give the gift of a good time.

Main thing I learned from trying to debate with Gamergate ~2015 is: there's no point in trying to debate with Gamergate.

A lot of them are conscious trolls. Many of the ones who aren't, aren't motivated by belief in a fact but by the emotions that underpin it.
In the very unlikely event that you manage to reason one of them away from a position that they have accepted as true, that doesn't ripple to the next person who comes to argue the same point.

And the person you convinced will probably be swayed back by the group dynamic anyway.
The idea that, say, a certain set of allegations are false isn't something they know, or something they have reason to believe to be factual, but something that emotionally resonates and fits a narrative.

So they accept immediately any argument in support of that conclusion.

Sadly, a lot of people buy into the Highlander theory of abuse, thinking there can only be one. In reality, a huge percentage of victims are abused by multiple men over the course of a lifetime.
Gamergate never really went away, so much as it metastasized, helping elect Trump. This new dust-up over Zoe Quinn is another illustration of how the forces of social justice and reaction are locked in a struggle, and I’m afraid it’s unclear who will win.

Today has been a very bad day for #The5Million. I had prepared myself for defending #FreedomOfMovement against @theresa_may. Turns out I should also have prepared myself for defending it against @HackneyAbbott who chose to pit EU citizens against other immigrants today. 1/
Earlier today I tweeted that I consider doing this - pit people against people -the lowest of the low. I expected it from @theresa_may and @sajidjavid, but I did not see coming that @HackneyAbbott would choose to do so too. This is always wrong, but especially in this case. 2/
Because:
1) It neglects the fact that freedom of movement is a *reciprocal* right, not preferential access, not a one-way street into the UK.
2) It is in the UK Govt's choice to treat immigrants from elsewhere in the way they are being treated - that is not a result of FoM. 3/

At some point I’ll write on Allende’s life, but today I want to discuss briefly the events leading up to the coup, and the brutal events of September 11, 1973 and the following months. It all began on September 4, 1970. Allende won a plurality of the presidential vote with 36.2%
Jorge Alessandri, running in a right wing coalition won 34.9%, and Radomiro Tomic, with the Christian Democratic Party, won 27.8%. The plurality is sometimes used to claim a lack of popular support for Allende's policies, but Tomic's platform was very similar to Allende's.

Dad was detained in a #Texas detention center where @RAICESTEXAS consulted. Dad accepted a deportation to be quickly reunited w/ his infant child. However, the Dad was deported & NOT his child. The now 8-month-old baby has been in ORR custody for 4 months. #EndFamilySeparation
