K, non-Hebrew speakers, there is a word you need to know. We'll be using it a lot. HaMatzav - המצב - it means the situation. And it's what we call this kind-of-war but not-a-war and hopefully-won't-lead-to-a-war because nobody wants a war non-war.
To use in a sentence:
We aren't going north because of the matzav.
Because of the matzav, shelters were opened.
My kids are scared to sleep because of the matzav.
I hope the matzav doesn't get worse.
Depending on the matzav, we'll see you later.

I should have mentioned, you can also say, Ma HaMatzav? when you see someone. In this context just means "What's up?" Having nothing to do with any situation
Ok, next Hebrew phrase: Gam Zu Litovah -This too is for the best. It's not as commonly used as matzav BUT its a great frame of mind. So, if you arranged an activity for your kids and parents to do together & they worked hard on it & the lady tells you that her kiln burnt it up
and you sit there staring at the pictures and you're so mad you could spit, then you start to laugh and say GAM ZU LITOVAH - Its for the best! and think of all the other things that DIDN'T happen instead of this and then you're happy and grateful instead of sad and angry!
