How did the first burial ground for African Americans in Tampa become “lost”?: “It disappeared nearly a century ago when the land was parceled off for white developments.” tampabay.com/news/tampa/201…
I have maintained that America’s deeply entrenched & structural racism is all around us in the physical space. If you probe housing policies, deeds, funding, siting - you will find it. And this - this 20th & 21st century racism - must be part of the reparations discussion.
It is ripe for the kind of truth-telling, apology, and massive reparative investment that is calculable & necessary to address the contemporary manifestation of historic white supremacist practices & the ongoing racial wealth gap.
