Perhaps what we need isn't a Government of National Unity at all, but an Opposition of National Unity (ONU?)
If Boris Johnson's working majority drops way below zero all opposition MPs working together should be able to pass laws even if he's still in charge.

So let him sit and stew in Number 10, while the grown-ups do what's necessary to delay or stop Brexit, and start fixing the country. In this scenario, there's no issue of whether it's Corbyn or anyone else leading the Government, because that's Figurehead Johnson's job.
All MPs have to do is deny him a GE and he's stuck in office but not in power.
