Recently, I visited the Aida refugee camp in Bethlehem. There I spoke w/a 28 yr old man whose family fled the Arab village of Abu Ghosh in 1948 and he shared their story...I will withhold his name, because I didn’t ask his permission to share this publicly.
Abu Ghosh is on the main road from Jaffa to Jerusalem, an area of heavy fighting between Israel and Jordan in 1948. Because of this, his family voluntarily evacuated, along with most of the town. They fully expected to return home after Jordan defeated Israel.

Most of us are just exhausted. Exhausted from a Twittercentric news cycle that isn't even 24 hrs anymore, more like 24 minutes. Exhausted from self-censorship lest we get labeled and canceled for having opinions that were perfectly mainstream 10 minutes ago but are now verboten.
Jews are particularly exhausted. We are being used as political props by extremists on both sides of the aisle. We are hearing the worst, most divisive, anti-Jewish voices in both parties are being amplified and portrayed as martyrs and leaders.
But what exhausts me most are not Omar /Tlaib’s lies. Snakes gonna snake. I’m not even that angry at the President. Trump’s gonna Trump. What exhausts me are the supposedly mainstream voices in the politics and the media, on both sides, rising to their defense.

#OnThisDay 75 years ago, Operation Bagration begun. Following the most successful deception operation in #WWII which utterly deceived the Germans as to the size and location of the Soviet summer offensive, the Red Army destroyed Army Group Centre.
The giant offensive saw 1.2 million Soviet troops, supported by 4 thousand tanks, 24 thousand artillery pieces, and 5.4 thousand aircraft attack 4 German armies.
Army Group Centre had been stripped of its mobile reserves, as German High Command believed that the Soviet attack would fall in the south. Half a million combatants and 300 thousand non-coms became trapped by the Soviet advance. Largest defeat in the history of the German army.

Today's terrorist attack in Pittsburgh is truly horrifying. My thoughts go out to the families of the victims. It's not enough to just send condolences, we have to look at the larger trend and acknowledge the biggest terror threat in America:

Hate groups and the extreme right
Experts disagree on the exact % of terror attacks that are motivated by far-right ideology, the differences explained by different methods of measuring or different time-frames, but they're unanimous in that it's over 2/3 in recent decades.
This analysis by Defense One (itself fairly far right) puts it on the low side at 71%.

THREAD showing evidence I've come across that suggests the recent murder of a young Jewish man in California was committed by a neo-Nazi, possibly as a politically motivated killing. (Sat on this for a week waiting on editors but now bits of the info are already out, so fuck it).
On January 2nd a 19-year-old Jewish man went missing in southern California. He turned up dead on Jan 9th, buried in a shallow grave in Borrego Park (wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=3…). A former class-mate was arrested on suspicion of the murder on Jan 12th.
The deceased is Blaze Bernstein and the suspected killer--now charged with the murder--is Sam Woodward, 20. (Referred to here on out as Blaze and Sam). See the next tweet for the LA Times story.
