John Minford, #SunTzu 9: 8 "Observations of these four types of positions enabled the Yellow Emperor to defeat the Four Emperors.

Who but the Chinese could do this? The Yellow Emperor is destined to become Lord of All Under Heaven. Who are his enemies? South is the Red Emperor. East is the Green Emperor. West is the White. North is Black. Don't work too hard, just play with it.

Yellow Emperor defeats Red, Green, White, and Black Emperors. Can you feel the presence and power of myth here? Have we discussed the cardinal directions; the compass rose? Do you remember the Four Winds? The Four Corners of the earth?

What we're dealing with in these great forces is myth. A mythical Yellow Emperor defeated the four emperors of the cardinal directions and became lord overall. Overall? Over the four directions! And how did he do so? By mastery over Mountains, Rivers, Marshes, and Flatlands.

Did you catch it? Let me make it obvious:

1) Mountains
2) Rivers
3) Marshes
4) Flatlands

These four types of ground equal the four cardinal directions in number. Make the matrix and you have the map of victory.

For an early homework assignment in today's class, map out the four directions, literally. How did Trump 2016 do in North, South, East and West? That's the easy assignment. Ready for the difficult one?

If the first assignment won you, say, 5 points, the next one gets you 15 or 20. Ready? What mountains did he have to surmount in 2016? What rivers did he cross? What Marshes has he navigated? What flatlands has he conquered?

A mountain for you is something seemingly too high to climb, a challenge so great you will likely fail. Yet the roots of mountains reach deep into the tectonic plate. What's more, mountains were often, previously, volcanoes spouting off at the top.

Child of the mountain, you must learn to bide your time, bight your tongue and keep your silence when needed. If you don't know your own mountains, you know nothing. Learn your boundaries.

Rivers are the great boundaries separating you from the past into the future, defining the territory you contest. We've discussed marshes deeply already. You know what they are! And then there's these damned flatlands.

On the flat land is where you take your stand. It is where your enemy faces his destiny, and you serve him to become a martyr for his cause. No, in politics, we don't convert enemies into martyrs. Yet the analogy holds.

Each of us has the opportunity to become the Yellow Emperor in our own lives, defeating the Lords of the Four Corners. All contenders may come, but in the end, it is our job, our opportunity to arise and defeat them all. Can you imagine that? Defeating all contenders?

What's more, each of us has the opportunity to become the Yellow Emperor in our own local context. Be it my ultimate vision of #100kMAGALeaders, or my vision of #435MAGAHouse teams, there will always be opposition from each of the four corners of the map.

There's another four-pointed map to consider:

1) Form
2) Storm
3) Norm
4) Perform

These are the stages of a small high-performance team's development.
