ICYMI: for generations, residents of the Siberian steppes have "hunted" mammoth ivory in the warm months to supplement their income. Demand is high, especially since trading in African elephant ivory is illegal these days, and huge modern tusks are impossible to find. 
However, with the advent of organized paleontology, these people fossil-hunt now, too. And the stuff they're finding is incredible.
Here's a 42,000-year-old foal some ivory hunters found. It still has liquid blood.

And a 40,000-year-old wolf head. It's 40 cm long; modern Siberian wolves' heads are around 23 to 25 cm.
Researchers are still studying it to figure out what-- or WHO-- severed it from its body.

And frankly, there are so many well preserved woolly mammoths coming out of the permafrost that it's not even front page news, anymore.
