One year of hard work and planning later we have had the great pleasure of opening the doors at #JavaZone today. 🎉Every year we try to do something different while keeping the awesome spirit of the conference. Here are some of the news for this year – the thread. 👇
This year we have an all-time high number of people at the conference and the people on the waiting list. Unfortunately, we could not let everyone in, BUT, to make everyone happy, we are streaming all the talks live on Twitter. Just follow @JavaZone and enjoy the show! 📺🎥
Every year we support local communities and this year we are giving A LOT to charity. This year's participant gift is a pair of socks, AND for each pair we bought, we got another pair to give to refugees and people in need. More info to come! 🧦
We are also sponsoring a computer lab for a school in Nepal together with the organisation "Kids on Computers" – this is our speaker's gift for this year. Speakers are also getting a special Speaker Edition pair of our charity socks! 💻
While we are celebrating our 18th birthday, we filled the venue and the rooms with thousands of balloons.🎈 Those are 100% recyclable, made of natural latex, and according to the company that delivers them they will break down as fast an oak leaf. 🍂
We also support local artists. We have had art installations at our stand in the expo quite a few times during the last years. This year, we have a giant, handmade "J" representing the most awesome J-Team of them all – the #JavaZone team, working tirelessly to make this happen.
