President @MBuhari: To improve service delivery and efficiency we have decided to restructure some functions, which has led to the creation of new ministries:

SGF recently announced the Introduction of a new Cabinet Memorandum Review and Approval Process; goal is to improve efficiency of government decision-making and policy implementation.

Also approved today, an extension of the construction contract for the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, to the border with Benin Republic. #FECBrief
Minister of @FinMinNigeria: FEC has approved the commencement of the process for an increase in VAT, from 5% to 7.2%. The Process will involve extensive consultations and also a review of VAT Act. Will not be implemented immediately — not until VAT Act is reviewed. #FECBrief
[An increase in VAT means more money for State and Local Governments. VAT sharing formula is 15% for FG and 85% for States and LGAs. #FECBrief ]
Min of @FinMinNigeria: FEC has directed that Consultations begin, on VAT increase, at various levels - with States, LGAs, private sector, General public.

We hope the VAT increase can take effect in 2020. But it CANNOT take effect until VAT Act is amended by National Assembly.
