HERE WE GO. #DemocraticDebate
I am announcing tonight that my "campaign" will "randomly" select 1 family and give them a total of LOTS OF CHRISTMAS PRESENTS FOR MY TWO NEPHEWS COME DECEMBER!
Mayor Pete is like, "WTF, Yang."

He said, "It's original, I'll give you that."
Harris goes direct to camera — talking to Trump and saying that America is better than Trump, then telling him he can go back to watching Fox News when she was done. BLOOP.
Warren moving into second, and the way it made those openings look in the first all-together debate, was NOTABLE.
Felt like this was a cheap shot. And yet, it's like putty in Warren's hands.
"Will middle-class taxes go up?" is such a complete bullshit question, and it's ALMOST fun to watch Warren be like, "Come off it, George."
Yeah. Joe is literally flanked by difficulty.
Harris responds to the Medicare for All/Who Want It/Etc. questions quickly — but then moves to spending half of her time explaining how Trump is a disaster, is trying to dismantle the ACA, and he needs to be defeated first and foremost.
Castro goes after Biden, asks if the former VP "forgot" what he said two minutes ago repeatedly 👀 ... leading Mayor Pete and Klobuchar to go after Castro 🥶 ... and Castro to tell Buttigieg that this is what a primary is. 🌚
Beto talks about Trump as a white supremacist.

Castro raises police shootings and talks about work that needs to be done to stop that.

Booker talks about systemic racism and criminal justice reform and more.

Buttigieg discusses his Douglass Plan to address racial injustice.
Harris is asked about her changed positions as a former prosecutor, a position she proudly still brags about today, and asked, "When you had the power, why didn't you try to effect change then?"
"Was I able to get enough done?" Harris says.

No, she wasn't — but, she's also not addressing the question. "Knowing the system from the inside," she says, she'll be able to get things done.
Klobuchar asked about her record as a prosecutor, and specifically on police shootings — and opposition from local Black leaders.
Booker says Biden's criminal justice plan is not enough, the moderators says, and he's asked about his plan.

"The whole model needs to change," Biden says, saying that nonviolent people shouldn't be in prison and drug offenders need to be treated instead.
Biden wants to be elected president because he passed the Brady Bill — but wants us to ignore his building of the federal mass incarceration system through other bills he passed.
Did I hear that correctly? Bernie says he doesn't support ending the filibuster, but does support having his VP interpret budget reconciliation rules to allow votes on everything he cares about not to require 60 votes? Seems like spinning around a bit, yes?
Asked about Obama deportations, Biden continues to get indignant and say Trump is worse and the Obama did DACA and other good things.

Jorge Ramos to Biden: "You didn't answer the question."
I REGRET TO INFORM YOU: WE ARE NOT YET HALFWAY THROUGH THIS #DEMDEBATE.
Buttigieg: "Anyone who supports this [the Trump administration immigration policies] is supporting racism." / A subtle pivot, as he was asked if people who support it *are* racist.
"In the second half, we're going to ... bring Elizabeth Warren back on stage!"
Honestly, I'm not that worked up about that. Let Harris and Biden ignore questions about their records some more!
Klobuchar: "They're giving me time. Don't stop talking."
Bernie, on trade: "Trump, obviously, hasn't a clue."
Note: They’re still debating. (Sorry, I was distracted.)
A person running for president of the United States, Pete Buttigieg, just talked on the national debate stage about reaching that moment in his life when he decided that he needed to come out in order to live his best life.
For Buttigieg, he said it was in his conservative community after serving his country under "don't ask, don't tell" and in a state where Mike Pence was governor.
There's a lot that can be legitimately questioned about Buttigieg, on his record & qualifications, and a lot to be discussed about privilege & choices & queer leadership, but that moment tonight was one that I never would have even imagined when I was closeted in the Midwest.
