What is common to Mithyalogy (“false speech”) and conspiracy theories?

Both are figments of imaginations. Both make for fantastic reading. Both have no conclusive proofs.

No wonder Mithyalogists makes the best conspiracy theorists.

Does the mithyalogist have any proof of any American Hindus using money power to divide Hindus into what he calls “Wendy lobby”, “David lobby”, and “American lobby”?

If yes, why does he not put it out? Who is paying whom? In what way? Is there a money trail?

In October 2009, Pattnaik interviewed Doniger in the same respectful way as a newspaper intern would interview a celebrity aurhor. He waxed eloquent Doniger: “Anyone who is serious about studying Hinduism needs to study the works of Wendy Doniger (69), ...

... who for over 40 years has been researching, translating, and commenting on Hindu scriptures and stories. Had it not been for her, I would not have had access to so many tales hidden in our scriptures.”

Now, Pattanaik is critical (albeit respectfully) of Doniger.

In Feb 2017, Koenraad Elst worte Pattanaik was “shifting towards a stance critical of Doniger, apparently under the influence of Rajiv Malhotra’s criticism of his own ‘Donigeresque’ approach to Indian stories.”

The ideological balancing act is likely a response to widespread criticims over Donigeresque interpretations.

Alas, ideological balancing is no fig leaf for lack of scholarship.
