Yesterday I participated in an asylum interview for an 8 year old Quiche boy. It lasted hours. The officer believed that he was exempted from the Asylum ban as a victim of trafficking. The asylum supervisor agreed. We completed the fear screening based on his race/displacement.
Today we were called back, the detained child taken out of school and brought back to a interview. We‘re told a 3rd review was conducted, and the exemption overturned. That the child will not be allowed to seek asylum. He remains detained. He’s 8. And he’s in PA @GovernorTomWolf
