September 9: Intelligence Community inspector general transmitted a letter to Schiff's committee notifying it of the existence of a whistleblower complaint.
Also September 9:
CNN reports that a high-level spy had been exfiltrated from Russia.
Later that evening, Russian media publishes his name and address.
Today:

Canadian mole - uncovered by US authorities who flipped a suspect and gave him up - arrested.

No, it was actually reinstated on September 12, the day before Schiff issued the subpoena.

As we await more facts to emerge with the whistle-blower news, let’s review the (sourced) timeline. This extremely long - but I think it’s important that we view everything in context.
Also, please note the pattern of doing crazy sh*t whenever something damaging happens. What do you remember more from that time period? The crazy sh*t, or all the moves happening within the government?

Another tactic: do or say something insane/despicable/dangerous. Then, as that dominates the news cycle, do something worse than what’s being covered. Then, say you won’t do insane/despicable/dangerous thing after all, or outright deny it even happened.
Advantages, aside from cover, include: overloading the collective brain, demoralization, instillation of fear, solidifying distrust in media.
On that last point, how many times have you turned off the news or ignored something because you know he’ll either deny, backtrack, inflame, or all 3? Eventually, we start to do that for everything. Because we’re tired.

According to @RepAdamSchiff, a whistleblower lodged an urgent complaint about wrongdoing within the Intelligence Community. intelligence.house.gov/news/documents…
The acting director of national intelligence (Coats stepped down and Ratcliffe flamed out), a man named Joseph Maguire, was required to share the whistleblower's complaint with the congressional intelligence committees.
"The Acting DNI was required by statute to submit the complaint to the congressional intelligence committees more than 10 days – but he refuses to do so," Schiff says.
