I came into the 2019 Democratic Primary season with no preconceived notions of who I would be supporting other than the need for a new Commander in Chief in the White House.

I have listened with an open heart and an open mind and time after time, the individual who has continually impressed me with his consistent, thoughtful, and error-free presentation of our values and needs in this country is @PeteButtigieg. He has risen to the top.

Instead of maneuvering to find sound bytes and kill-shots, Mr. Buttigieg has given me confidence that his knowledge, intellectual capacities, personal experience and struggles have made him the most intriguing and highest-upside candidate in this race for the presidency.

I know people hate sports analogies, but Mr. Buttigieg is quietly throwing a no-hitter without a 90-mph fastball.

I spoke with @RepDonBeyer prior to writing this to confirm some of my thinking -- as I know he has endorsed Mr. Buttigieg -- and it’s remarkable how much we are in-sync on why Mr. Buttigieg is our best choice for President of the United States.

The world is in its most complex configuration in our lifetime. No, we are not on the verge of World War III, but challenges abound: income inequality, climate change, criminal justice and racial disparities, lack of affordable healthcare choices... the list goes on.

These are all compounded by threats to our democracy from foreign adversaries, our current President, and his breathtakingly incompetent Administration.

When you add in the malevolence and anti-democratic proclivities of the U.S. Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, you have a toxic stew -- which has placed America in a polarized darkness.

These challenges will require an intellect and a disposition to sort through these complexities in a prioritized and organized way.

Mr. Buttigieg will not be fighting battles of the past, but will find a new way forward in unlocking us from the many conundrums we find ourselves in -- by putting forward bold, fresh solutions that Americans can unite around.

I am asking you to support Mr. Buttigieg because neither he, or any other candidate, can do this without our full-fledged effort and devotion to promoting our strengths as a nation and repairing our deficits.

I ask you to join me in support of Mr. Buttigieg. I believe he is the right person for this unusual moment in our nation’s history.

We need the best and most flexible mind we can find to begin to build our bridges back with the rest of the world, reconnect with each other, and to establish bonds with those we have failed.
