1. Impeach Kavanaugh? On the merits, sure. But as we know from Trump, just impeachment is both a political and legal process. And it's hard to imagine any process ending with 67 Senators voting to remove.
2. The impossibility of impeachment doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. There is value in getting the evidence against him on the public record, and also underscoring how the FBI wasn't given time to investigate & the nomination was stampeded through.
3. So, moving forward: investigation & impeachment. But maybe also other ways to dilute Kavanaugh's power. Some thoughts here: thenation.com/article/kavana…

1. It's worth taking this tweet from 2014 both seriously and literally as a statement of policy: Trump thinks foreign policy should be a protection racket, with client states (a.k.a. allies) shaken down for $$ in exchange for USA maintaining the peace as the big boss.
2. Foreign policy as protection racket is, incidentally, not an inherently absurd idea. The international relationship eggheads prefer more genteel language ("hegemony") but what is the point of imperial dominance if not plunder?
3. Trump's statement about why Saudi Arabia is a great ally ("Saudi Arabia pays cash") is at least candid, moreso than the Council of Foreign Relations blather about the liberal international order and security of trade.

1. "tiny"? According to Real Clear Politics Aggregation: Warren + Sanders = 34.1%, Biden = 26.8. Or we could put together all Chait cited moderate candidates (Biden, Klobuchar, Bennet et) & get 29.5%
2. Of course, in the real world most people don't break down into consistent left/centrist binaries (Bernie is the 2nd choice of many Biden supporters). But if you add up all the candidates Chait thinks are too left you get a majority of the party!
3. Seriously, if I add up all the candidates who Chait seems to think of as have gone too far to the left or being to fringe (Sanders, Warren, Harris[!], Buttigieg[!!], Yang, Gabbard, Castro) you get 47.7%. All the Chait-acceptable moderate candidates get 34.6%

Christine Blasey Ford was an even bigger hero than you know.

Please share this. The world deserves to know her story.
2/ Dr. Ford had never even told her husband about #Kavanaugh’s sexual assault.

They were remodeling their house, and Dr. Ford insisted on building a SECOND FRONT DOOR so she would feel safe. Her husband thought this was ridiculous, so she told him through a therapist.
3/ She was beyond terrified of speaking up, but felt a deep civic duty to this country to tell the Senators voting her experience.

She did not sleep for TWO DAYS before sending this message to @SenFeinstein. She was desperately hoping the Senator would keep her name out of it.

When AG Barr released the redacted version of the report to Congress, he did *not* include any of the underlying documents on which Mueller relied.

Just like a lawsuit, a case has to be built based on facts and evidence. Both the Intelligence Committee and the Judiciary Committee have been working their way through the system, including voting to hold AG Barr in Contempt of Congress. DJT has been fighting them in court.

2/
Meanwhile, the Ways and Means Committee has also been working on getting DJT's tax returns. One of the Committees has also been working on getting records subpoenaed from DJT's financial management firm and from Deutche Bank, known for Russian money laundering.

A note on #impeachment -

In a court of law, under non-presidential circumstances, impeachment is a tool litigation attorneys use to discredit the opposing side's witnesses at trial. When said witness takes the stand under oath attys. present evidence contrary to what the witness
claims. This weakens the other side's case by discrediting impeached witnesses's testimony. Once a witness has been impeached - by presentment of inconsistent testimony - the judge/jury can no longer use the impeached witnesses's testimony in reaching a verdict.
Simply put, they aren't trustworthy. In the case of Presidential impeachment that broad definition of impeachment applies, but the impeachment tool is used for a very different purpose. Under the Constitution, a sitting President cannot be tried in a court of law for anything.
