This was a wonderful way to start my day.

Also got me thinking about some ways my commute has changed in the last 6 months, and the side effects.

So…here comes a thread! (1/?)
Back in the spring I started riding a motorcycle to work.

For the first few months, I was parking in the garage under Indy Hall's building.

This meant I literally drove into work in the morning, and then out at night. It was VERY easy for me to never walk outside.
This was a stark contrast to every version of my commute prior:

- walking from Queen Village to Old City
- Taking the MFL from Kensington to Old City
- Taking the Bus + MFL from Roxborough to Old CIty.

In all cases, I would alwayyyyys run into people on the street.
I didn't really notice this change, at least not overtly or enough to give up the convenience of in-building parking.

I noticed it when I had to start parking in another lot, barely 3 blocks away, and I started running into people again.
Within the first few days I remembered how much I loved bumping into people, or even just waving hi across the street when I saw a friendly face.

It's been a couple of months now, and I'm SO much more aware of the value of these 3 blocks of walking through our nieghborhood.
This is a huge part of why I live in a city. I almost can't believe I accidentally gave it up.

Makes me think about the other conveniences we accept, without really considering the side effects. 🤔

Curious if anyone else has a story like this they would share!
