Elizabeth lives in a rural community in Guatemala’s Zacapa department.

She showed us her crops — destroyed by drought — and said her daughter left for the United States to escape extreme poverty caused by the climate.

She’s one of over 100K to flee.

In Las Sopas village in Chiquimula department, five kids died last year of malnutrition. Half told me they knew someone who has left for the US.
