@OIGatHHS A "hectic reunification process added to the trauma that children had already experienced."

@OIGatHHS says separated kids exhibited increased:

➡️ Fear
➡️ Feelings of abandonment, anxiety and loss
➡️ PTSD

Some "expressed acute grief that caused them to cry inconsolably."

@OIGatHHS Caretakers say kids didn't trust them:

"[O]ne program director noted that separated children could not distinguish facility staff from the immigration agents who separated them from their parents: 'Every single separated kid has been terrified. We’re [seen as] the enemy.'

@OIGatHHS Here's a few of the testimonials by childcare professionals who cared for Trump's separated kids about what his policy did to them.

@OIGatHHS Remember last year when officials at Casa Padre told me that the overcrowding at the HHS "shelter," a former Walmart housing 1,000+ boys, was due to separation of families by the Trump administration? Now here's proof of that from @OIGatHHS.

@OIGatHHS Read this @OIGatHHS conclusion:

"ORR should establish procedures to ensure that future policy changes prioritize child welfare considerations and do not inadvertently increase the length of time a child remains" in custody -- the exact *opposite* of what family separations did.

Unfortunately not much is surprising at this point.

We've known about the trauma caused by separations, the lack of a plan for reunifications, and that the Trump administration was warned.
