I have spent considerable hours, words and energy defending the speaker's decision to play both sides on the impeachment question. I have worked through the moral and realist considerations. I have taken the practical political challenges very seriously. But now I'm done.
The consequence of failing to take action is the president being above the law. That's where we are now. And that's on the Democrats as well as on the Republicans.

The Democrats can say that they can't impeach Trump because they'll lose the House. Fine. But they can't say they stand for the rule of law, for accountability and for justice. Those are *moral* convictions. Yet they refuse to take a moral stand. No, they can't have it both ways.

1. Look, I’ll be the first to celebrate once the president is found out to be a traitor. But I’m getting tired of the Kaboom Kabal and other happy campers super-eager to pin the word “game changer” to anything that’s remotely disgraceful for the president.
2. I mean, I get it. There’s a reason why @DonnyDeutsch said today on @JoeNBC that this gathering scandal is looking like a “game changer.” But seriously. Let’s be honest.

1. I think we need to prepare ourselves for the unthinkable: that this president is above the law. Indeed, that any Republican president is above the law.
2. We need to prepare ourselves to cast doubt on any public official who idolizes the rule of law but who can’t or won’t hold a historically weak president accountable for his many high crimes.
3. I think we need to prepare ourselves to accept *as fact* that there are two kinds of justice in this country. This isn’t a belief. This isn’t a hunch. This isn’t a feeling. The evidence is overwhelming if you’re paying attention.

1. I’m ambivalent about what the Democrats should do about the SCOTUS for two reasons. One, I’m not a legal scholar. Two, I’m not a legal scholar. I repeat myself to emphasize the dearth of my authority on the matter.
2. But honestly, I doubt anyone truly knows what to do about a high court with two illegitimate justices on it.
3. What I can say with confidence is that it’s good that we’re having such a debate. That we’re having such a debate indicates our national discourse has shifted from the unthinkable—for instance, “packing the court”—to the OK-let’s-think-about-it.

When AG Barr released the redacted version of the report to Congress, he did *not* include any of the underlying documents on which Mueller relied.

Just like a lawsuit, a case has to be built based on facts and evidence. Both the Intelligence Committee and the Judiciary Committee have been working their way through the system, including voting to hold AG Barr in Contempt of Congress. DJT has been fighting them in court.

2/
Meanwhile, the Ways and Means Committee has also been working on getting DJT's tax returns. One of the Committees has also been working on getting records subpoenaed from DJT's financial management firm and from Deutche Bank, known for Russian money laundering.

Start easy: the blunt awkwardness/cringe of 'Blurryface' is the point of taking the piss out of Tyler. I stand by my light 9/10.
2. I don't hate Nickelback's 'Dark Horse' - it's easily a record for them at their most tasteless, but the frat-bro swagger of it helps some of their better hooks.
3. 'Fireflies' by Owl City is a genuinely terrific song that captures precocious, starry-eyed wonderment better than few others in the 2000s.

It is SPECTACULARLY lame, but that's why it works.
