I literally was fooled by Facebook spin into thinking it was 10,000 but now we’re told by press that court docs show it was 69,000 apps (about 10,000 involved potential data misuse). Way more than expected. cc @IanCLucas @DamianCollins
I wonder how many outlets reported based on Facebook’s blog post without reviewing the actual unsealed court docs. No one seemed to report the 69k apps suspended until later in the day.
Facebook is literally a crime scene. The entire profit model was built off Facebook’s privacy failures. “That suggests that, five years ago, more than one in four apps may have been accessing Facebook users’ data without their knowledge or consent.” apnews.com/5765b213eb3143…
And again, I’m serious. This has all of the signs of Enron. Mysteriously buried fake accounts, app purges, data leaks, unaudited measurements. Even advertisers have said they know they’re buying video which most of the time gets watched less than a second.
