Excuse me. I think you mean that atheists and agnostics know more about religions *other than Christianity* than most *Christian* groups. There's only one non-Christian religious group listed on these results, and um...
This headline is so grossly disingenuous. The survey is measuring, primarily, whether respondents know much about a *diversity* of religions. Christians and atheists/agnostics were roughly on par with knowledge about Christian stuff.
Atheists/agnostics scored a *little* bit better than Christians on knowledge of religions *other than Christianity*. Not nearly as well as Jews, though, which is unsurprising, since Judaism is one of those non-Christian religions.
Furthermore, the survey questions are not about theology, or even really much about culture. The questions are factoids. Which religion is Kabbalah associated with? Which religion is Ramadan a holiday in? What event is observed at Rosh Hashanah?
You don't have to know anything about what the *significance* of Ramadan is, or how Rosh Hashanah is observed to get these questions right. It's not a measure of depth of knowledge in any way whatsoever.
8 of the 15 questions on the survey are related to Christianity (some of these are also applicable to Judaism, referencing shared texts). Christianity is the *only* religion that has any questions about what adherents actually believe.
So no, this doesn't show that atheists/agnostics are more knowledgeable about religion than most religious groups. Christian atheists - 3/4 of the "nones" were raised Christian - bother to learn basic facts about non-Christian practices a little more than practicing Christians.
