I've been seeing this argument in my mentions a lot lately -- that because I've fact-checked lies from some propagandists on the right, that must mean I'm a propagandist for the Democrats.

Yeah ... if that's what I'm trying to do, I am *horrible* at it.

Beyond everything here on Twitter, my first book chronicled how Southern Democrats drove Jim Crow, my last book had plenty of criticism for Democrats from Carter to Clinton, and my current project focuses on civil rights hero John Doar, a lifelong Republican.

I mean, the Democrats are pretty bad at public relations, so I guess it's *plausible* that they'd recruit a propagandist who had devoted so much time to noting their party's problems in the past and present.

But even then ... yeah, I don't think this checks out.
