/ Like @IndivisibleTeam and others, I believe we should demand a vote on Articles as soon as possible. Congress should work around the clock to hasten the process. It is urgent.
/ This latest abuse of power brought to light by a whistleblower is part of a pattern of abuses that simultaneously threaten national security, the sovereignty of our elections and the rule of law. We must not wait to address these high crimes.
/ We already have documented evidence of multiple impeachable offenses from the Mueller report, now months old. We can't ignore this fact. The Nadler inquiry has been underway since before recess. That's not to mention myriad other documented abuses and impeachable bigotries.
/ The danger in delaying is that the clock runs out on the Congressional calendar into 2020, and as time passes people will start worrying about the politics of a trial in the Senate. As if Mitch McConnell cares about anything at all. He doesn't!
/ As @FSFP and partners wrote to Chairman Nadler in July and reiterated earlier in September, the vote needs to be held by November 15th. President Trump continues to escalate his abuses of office- to cannot wait. Seven more weeks must be sufficient. freespeechforpeople.org/public-interes…
/ Further, the IC whistleblower appears to be likely to testify imminently per @RepAdamSchiff. Indicators are that the complaint goes beyond the singular Ukraine infraction. We need to move swiftly- a great deal may be at stake we can't know yet.
/ We need to imagine a world where we have to demand Donald's resignation even before a vote on impeachment if the infractions are serious enough. McConnell is unlikely to be swayed by anything at all apart from obvious treason, but Burr and Warner are also on the case.
/ The situation is grave. The President of the United States is illegitimate. He is deeply corrupt, dangerous and erratic. Time is not on our side. We owe it to the world to act quickly.
