Runners, take it easy, if you aren't able to match your pre-covid level performance

1. #running, like every #PhysicalActivity, got severely impacted during #COVID19 pandemic. Several runners couldn't keep to their training and as a result, aren't able to match pre-covid fitness.
2. Finishes in #endurance and #ultra endurance #running (UER) decreased significantly during the pandemic, with an almost 11-fold decrease in endurance running and 5-fold decrease in UER.
This resulted in lesser opportunities for #Training.
3. Covid-19 lockdown has negatively impacted the fitness level
The COVID-19 lockdown reduced 1000 meter running and pull-up performances by 11% and 24% respectively, among Chinese college men.

Aerobic capacity is defined as the maximal rate of oxygen consumption (VO2max). A large improvement in aerobic capacity can already be achieved during an intense 10-week training program.

Non-responders to exercise probably don’t exist. However, there are people that need a lot more exercise volume to obtain the same fitness benefits compared to others.

Awesome October 2021: A month of 31 half #marathons on 31 consecutive days- sharing my experience
1.Starting from 30th September, and ending on 31st October 2021, I completed 32 runs of 21.1 km or longer, with a total mileage of 817 km in 32 days (average of 25.5 km/day).
This included one Full marathon (42.2 km) on 30th October.
2.The purpose was to test my #endurance, and to see the #physical & #mental effects of long distance #running on 32 consecutive days. I present my observations here.
3. How difficult was it? In reality, it was not difficult. Once you get up and start the run, it is easy to complete. The most important is- you need 2.5 to 3.5 hours time to compete the distance. I could manage that in the mornings between 5 and 8:30 AM.

It’s difficult trusting the process and accepting that success is earned over prolonged periods of consistency.

When we have bad sessions or bad weeks, we can often let it affect us.

We double down on training, play catch up with missed sessions, add extra onto sessions which weren’t planned for, and this can lead to performance being affected even more or worst case, injury.

When injured, a bad day or weeks rehab can make the wheels fall off and we sabotage ourselves even more.

It didn’t take me long to answer to be honest, I think it’s the same secret for all sports (and life in general!)

the key is simply to be consistent over a prolonged period - sustained / maintained consistency.

The successful athletes, and by that I mean relative success to the individual, not necessarily podium finishes per se, is that they are world class at doing the basics, rather than being basic at the world class things.

1. I sell when my investment thesis is wrong or the investment is playing out for wrong reasons
I invested in a few pharma companies with a hypothesis that #USFDA issues,pricing issues will be sorted and growth return to normal, but currently pharma has given me > 100 % returns for wrong reasons which I did not hypothesise #Covid19
2. I sell when my research or my analysis is wrong

In 2016 I invested in #Tarajewels based on #Graham net net, I was on a 30% profit, when i reanalyzed I found I missed to take into account #contingentliabilities and sold the position.

1/ The difference between #stamina, #endurance and speed endurance

Stamina, the ability to perform a task at certain capacity, rate or pace.

Like running 5km in 30 minutes or 10km in 60.

Stamina is focused on maintaining a rate or pace for a certain duration or time
2/ Endurance is the maximum time you can sustain an activity without worrying about pace or rate.

Like going for a long slow run. Here distance or pace is not important. Maximizing time on road is.

Liking a 90 minute run. Focus on 90 minutes. Not distance or pace.
