The NDP pledge $20 million to combat money laundering by staffing anti money laundering unit in the RCMP. Singh acknowledges RCMP staffing is a problem but insists money will provide for staffing (unclear how that works bc they all come from federal policing)

For context: federal policing has been under a personnel and resource strain for years - so pulling them from one part of policing to deal with money laundering problem would still be same limited number of officers but NDP says new funds in part for additional staff

NDP is also promising a company registry where names of owners must be attached to companies to prevent shell numbered companies from owning other companies which has been used as a tactic to hide true ownership and facilitate money laundering. UK introduced a similar registry
