@GuuToby decided to come to HK, put on a press vest & check what wasn't being covered. Sneaky, but for months people have used press vests to obstruct police and as a riot tool, while "real" press didn't say much. Getting a story should be ok? Well @tomgrundy has a nasty surprise
Tom suddenly takes issue. His narrative is broken. After Toby has been locked up in his hotel for 36h worried about the death threats and whether he'd be recognized outside, Tom decides to send out a command to his 129k followers further doxxing him and encouraging confrontation.
It was easy to make an argument that Tom & his media muppets were terrorist sympathizers, but now we're moving into terrorist enabler territory here. The cracks exposing unethical conduct by "free" world journalists in HK were always there, this here is the Grand Canyon now.
Perhaps the most ironic part of all... Where @GuuToby has to kindly remind the freedom fighters, who fight for a system like his... that it actually doesn't work like that.
@tomgrundy not reacting the same to fake press assaulting police means either;

The real concern isn't reporter safety, it's real reporting.

or

Reporter safety IS the concern, but the threat of violence from "peaceful" protestors is far greater than that from "brutal" police.
Committed to the facts, except for the ones we don't like.

Without fear or favor, except when we're doing favours for those who are threatening your life by doxxing over some more info to them.

Your organization and you are a real pieces of work @tomgrundy
