If the language used by both sides was equal...
Johnson says MPs are "holding the public hostage", so is it OK to say when he prorogued he was "knocking out MPs"?
(Below) Is it OK to say prorogation is putsch 1, refusing to extend putsch 2, then he'll go to jail and write a book?
My point: Stop pretending the language used by the politicians on both sides is equal. He's giving out a hell of a lot worse than he's getting.
Boris Johnson has been leading the Leave side for 3 years and accusing those who oppose him of betrayal.
It's no coincidence that the men who chucked their drink on me and poked me in the face with a flag pole were screaming "F***ing traitor!"

I don't know how much more simply I can say this:
You can't campaign to stop the Brexit we've negotiated then accuse those who want to stop No-Deal Brexit of thwarting the will of the people!
Either Leave just Means Leave or it doesn't!
Either the Brexit vote came with a set of conditions based on the promises made in 2016, or any Brexit will do, in which case you wouldn't have campaigned to stop the Brexit deal.
The hypocrisy is **** UNREAL!
We cannot keep going round in circles like this! ⬇️

Boris Johnson's shutting down Parliament so that he would be in control of the only active branch of government was just declared unlawful by the highest court in the land.
What do we call an unlawful seizure of absolute political power?
Last night Boris Johnson said that our MPs were "holding the public captive" because they were blocking a version of Brexit that NOBODY WAS ASKING FOR WHEN THEY VOTED.
And yet we have people trying to claim the two uses of language are equal to each other.
Coup wouldn't have been my first choice as they are typically violent. But we do have a prime minister who is willing to break the law in order to seize control.
Alarm is appropriate.

1. It's probably worth recalling, if we're going to discuss the politics of the Clinton impeachment, why it was so unpopular & yet why its political impact was muted enough to remain disputed to this day.
2. The Reagan years really did shift the country to the right across the board, as was obvious at the time & supported by lots of data, albeit not as much as conservative triumphalists of the time believed or wanted.
3. Republican leadership was *much* more trusted on foreign affairs by the end of the Cold War than Democratic leadership. But people still voted for divided government. Ds had held the House since Eisenhower's first time, retook the Senate in 1986 in a bunch of close races.

Remember last week when I profiled NationBuilder, the election software used by both Boris Johnson and Donald Trump?

Well, it turns out NB has been buying voters' data from a company accused by Facebook of vioolating its users' privacy.

That company, FullContact, was investigated by Facebook alongside Cambridge Analytica in 2016 & apparently found to have broken rules.

When contacted by the Telegraph, FullContact denied all wrongdoing – and then said it would delete all its Facebook data to avoid "confusion".
So what exactly is going on? In case you missed it, here's my thread from last week on NB – an incredibly prolific software service which was used by both sides of the EU referendum, by Tommy Robinson and by up to 200 groups in the 2017 general election.

THREAD I have been wading through the full judgment from Scotland's highest civil court, the Court of Session, on the prorogation of parliament this evening (with assistance, as you can see). Here are some points I think are interesting. #Prorogation #TheNine
First, what is this all about? A group of parliamentarians led by @joannaccherry of the SNP wanted to stop the prorogation (suspension) of parliament, which has now taken effect, arguing that it was unlawfully designed to stymie parliamentary debate on Brexit.
As it happened the High Court in London has rejected a similar case but one argument made by the petitioners in Edinburgh (that is, Ms Cherry and co) was that Scotland (which has its own legal system pre-dating the 1707 union with England) had different law in this matter.

Ahead of #Johnson's meeting with #Merkel today, there was a lot of curiosity (but no optimism) in Berlin on whether he would have any idea up his sleeve that would solve the #Brexit deadlock. The letter Johnson sent Monday rejecting the backstop suggests he doesn't. 1/3
Without any concrete propoal and the #Brexit Party in his back that seems determined to kill any deal, he is hardly a credible negotiation partner for continental Europeans anyway. That makes another extension of the Brexit date on Oct 31 unlikely. 2/3
Although Berlin sees huge economic & political risks of a no-deal Brexit for both sides & seeks a close partnership post-Brexit, it won't blink on the backstop. The ball remains in Johnson's field - while he sets up his arguments to scapegoat the #EU in case of hard #Brexit.

OK, guys, here's a little thread that updates some of what's going on over the next couple of days with #SQ788.
The marijuana industry trade group, which supported 788, and the medical industry, which opposed it, have made similar call for a more robust regulatory framework than the one the OK State Department of Health (OSDH) built Neither criticized the agency, but Fallin, others.
Pro-marijuana stance is that in terms of administrative law, there are gaps that could get the state sued. Also concerns that it doesn't consider vital actors. Like it doesn't talk much about the labs that would conduct the extensive required testing. Also threatens litigation.
