Boris Johnson's shutting down Parliament so that he would be in control of the only active branch of government was just declared unlawful by the highest court in the land.
What do we call an unlawful seizure of absolute political power?
Last night Boris Johnson said that our MPs were "holding the public captive" because they were blocking a version of Brexit that NOBODY WAS ASKING FOR WHEN THEY VOTED.
And yet we have people trying to claim the two uses of language are equal to each other.
Coup wouldn't have been my first choice as they are typically violent. But we do have a prime minister who is willing to break the law in order to seize control.
Alarm is appropriate.
