A decade or so ago, I wrote a friend of the Court brief in a case involving restrictions on stating positions by candidates for judgeships. I'll go look the case up if you insist.
In any event, I argued in my brief that limiting judicial candidates from making political statements as part of their campaigns not only violated the right to freedom of speech, it also unfairly benefit incumbent judge candidates.
Incumbent appellate court judges had the benefit of being able to render decisions in cases during the campaign season, and thereby communicate to the public on matters of great importance: corruption, crime, etc.
But non-incumbents were barred from talking about being tough on crime, etc.
Now we are told that #Trump solicited the aid of a foreign government to attack his political rival, @joebiden.

It seems, from those that make this assertion, that the offense consists of seeking such aid against a ***political*** rival.
So, if Trump had requested aid in detaining a fugitive from justice, had sought assistance in capturing a known wanted criminal, or had requested cooperation in an election interference investigation, then there would -- seemingly -- be no problem, no outcry, no whistleblowing.
What to make of this Lap Dance Media and #leftwingnut lunatic rule?

Well, it immunizes unethical and possibly illegal conduct when committed by politicians.

We are constantly feted with the refrain that "President Trump" isn't "above the law."

And we agree.
But it appears that former Vice President, Joe Biden, is above the law.

Who cares that the #USA and @Ukraine have a treaty of cooperation for the investigation of crimes?
Who cares that Burisma Holdings hired a coke addict with no Ukrainian or Russian language experience or gas/oil corporate management experience, paying him as much as $50K a month to serve on its board, his sole qualification was that he was the son of the then Vice President?
Who cares that @JoeBiden, recorded on videotape, expressly stated that he threatened -- with Obama's backing -- to withhold $1bln in aid to Ukraine unless the Prosecutor General investigating Burisma was fired?
