The Constitution provides for impeachment, and removal from office upon conviction, for "high crimes and misdemeanors."

What if the House adopted articles of Impeachment charging that the President had abused his office by putting ketchup on his hot dogs.

Forget what contemporaneous writers said about the meaning of this Constitutional provision.

Just answer the question:

Would impeachment of a federal official on the ground that they used ketchup on their hot dog seem right to you? Seem sensible to you?

Let's be honest.

Those of you alive at the time who disagreed with Clinton's impeachment fairly sneered your disgust at what you thought was an abuse of the impeachment process over a presidential blow job.

So let's not pretend that just anything justifies an impeachment by Congress.

And, consequently, let's not pretend that you wouldn't have immediately objected to the impeachment of Obama by the Republican House, over DACA, over DAPA, over Operation Fast and Furious, over the IRS scandal.

And let's not pretend that you wouldn't have immediately characterized such efforts as an #unlawfulimpeachment.
