In the Islamic world and in India, there is often talk of recovering lost ground
E.g Islamic fantasy of recapturing Delhi
Hindu ambition to reunite subcontinent
In Europe, the urge to reconquer lost territories of Christendom (N Africa,Turkey,Levant) is totally missing!

In Europe, the urge to reconquer lost territories of Christendom (N Africa,Turkey,Levant) is totally missing!
Christian missionaries today have a very strong focus in regions alien to "traditional" Christendom - Sub-saharan Africa, China, India
But there isn't a civilizational urge within Europe to get back the territories that were once part of the "West" - part of Greco-Roman culture

So while we think of these regions - North Africa, Near East, Levant - as part of Christendom, their affinity to what we regard as "Western culture" today long predates even Christianity
Yet, there really isn't much talk within Europe, of regaining these territories for the "West"
